just to offer competition to other teams but they are playing to win the league.Speaking to ZICORA after his team's 1-0 victory over bottom placed Makokoba City Warriors, Team Manager, Dumisani Nyoni cited that most people, the media included are only talking of Chicken Inn and Quelaton as the favouites for the Pool A title but are forgetting that there are other teams who still have a realistic chance of clinching the title. “We still stand a chance of overtaking the top three teams as we are currently on fourth place. Everyone is talking about Chicken Inn and Quelaton or the famous return of Saints but noone is talking about us but we have one of the strongest teams in the league. We are even determined to even go all the way to win the playoff with the winners of Pool B and proceed to the PSL”, he said.
Forgotten Lancachire Steel and Masvingo United striker, Simbarashe Gate scored a 70th minute beauty of a goal to ensure maximum points for Windermere. The Omega Sibanda owned side is still placed fourth on the log and not far away from the leading pack. Commenting on the game against City Warriors, Nyoni, who is the father of Zimbabwean international and Cercle Brugge player, Vusa Nyoni said that City Warriors were simply out to fustrate them as they are already confirmed relegation candidates. “We didn't play our normal especially in the first half as City were playing some dirty mafia tactics on us just to fustrate us but the game opened up in the second half, that's why we scored that goal and we could have scored more”, he said.
Windermere had in their line- up players such Simbarashe Manuella, young brother to former Dynamos and Highlanders winger, Givemore Manuella, former Dynamos left back and young brother to Dazzy Kapenya, John Kapenya, Gate and young skipper, an ex-Eastern Lions keeper, Tapuwa Marime.
In the other match, also played at Raylton Sports Club, Quelaton prevailed over a determined New West City 2-0 to move to the summit of the log with 35 points. Chicken Inn were inactive this weekend. Zimbabwe Saints also moved to second place after they edged Victoria Falls United 2-0.
