Over a fun filled month, South Africa opened its borders to soccer fans , but for the rest of Africa it was the closing of borders to imports of substances that deplete the ozone layer – an umbrella shielding the earth from the harmful ultraviolet radiation (UV) radiation.

A long walk to water freedom |

Nearly 17 years ago, a Bulawayo resident, Arnold Payne, pushed a 210 litre drum full of water from the Zambezi River on a tri-wheel push cart over 400km from Zimbabwe’s resort town of Victoria Falls to Bulawayo to highlight the urgency of a permanent water source for the city.
